Something's afoot with AdSense Custom Search Engine

After years of displaying search results without a border around the ads and with the background of the ads blended in with the same color of the background of the search results page, today I noticed that the background color of the ads in search results had been changed by Google (not me).

Is this to prevent invalid clicks, I'm guessing? Now also, when I go into my Adsense control panel to change the color of the background back to its old color, AdSense seems to have deleted the code entirely. It's just not appearing in the Search section under My Ads anymore.

What gives? Any ideas?

P.S. -- one more thing, AdSense seems to have changed the font for my search results page as well, so now it's no longer consistent with the font I use on the rest of the site. Thanks a lot, G.

It's been like that for sometime now. I did mention similar in here at the time, but no-one took any notice IIRC.

I also had my adverts on the top and bottom. Google altered this to top and right side. I hate it, and the colour alterations.

I removed it completely from one site because they wouldn't allow the size I had originally, and no longer fitted well with the site.

They changed some of the code options and deprecated the code I set up years ago; I had to go in and remake mine (and I got over 60 of em - not done yet) There are some new options that make it look way cool - I really like the thumbnails in the search results, for example - but it's a PITA to reconfigure.
