Ads with 404 content at their target

AdSense ads that have non-working destination urls

Hi

Anyone have any idea how clicks on ads with destination URLs that end up on a "Page not Found" 404 error page affect things like smartpricing, invalidated clicks, etc? I was doing my Ad review thing and saw a link that I wanted to follow up on, typed it manually (but correctly) into my browser, and got such a 404 error... I won't have time to check all ads, but this seriously worries me.

I had an issue with an ad on my site (it was blank except for the blue arrow) and I managed to get through to an AdSense rep; she told me that when you see a problem with an ad, to click on the blue arrow and report it to AdWords.

That's probably the best you can do. Lot of advertisers leave their stuff on autopilot, and there's too many for Google to manually check up on them.

Thanks Netmeg, but this was via the ad review centre, so no blue arrow.
