Getting organised -- channels and reports

How do you use them?

Hi everyone,

I'm starting to feel like the channels and reports that I'm using are a bit chaotic and could be much more useful. Any tips on how to set up channels for the most flexibility in extracting useful data, and on the sorts of reports you use to monitor your AdSense account?

Thanks in advance,
gmb

I am very particular with channels, anal even.

I have channels for:

- each of the topics we cover
- each of the formats
- each of the placement in the site
- each of our URLs

It really depends on what you want to track, and, if you are trying to attract placement advertising, where you want advertisers to target.

I don't think you have to add url channels anymore, they give you a site report.

But I like to test placements and color palettes, so I have channels for those.

If there is a certain placement of my site that has a particular characteristic that I want to point out to advertisers, I will create a channel for that (and add it to the ad planner)

I wrote two long posts about how to approach channels and create a solid setup that can be extended over multiple sites and hundreds of channels.

Search for "The Secret to using AdSense Channels" and "Different strategies to use AdSense Channels" if you are interested

Thanks for sharing your thoughts. Lots to think about if I'm going to re-organise. :)
