AdSense Policy and full-screen dialog boxes

How to proceed... is everyone ignoring this?

Since Panda 1.0, I've been updating my main site with all the latest and greatest, from HTML 5 to AJAX.

One type of feature that I've put off because I wasn't sure about is full-screen dialog boxes, the kind that dim the whole screen with a transparent div, and put a div in the center with a message or a form. Probably the most common place I see this feature is on Wordpress blogs... for logging in and commenting.

The problem is that this type of feature covers all AdSense ads which appear on the page, and AdSense policy is that no ads may be covered in any way.

I guess using off-the-shelf blogging software counts as plausible deniability, but my sites are all custom built.

Is there any way around this? Does anyone here have experience with this policy?

Thanks.

I dunno, but I went through all kinds of hoops just because extra long dropdown boxes could, depending on the viewport, cover up the ads. Ended up moving the ads because I didn't know for sure (and the dropboxes were dynamically generated, which added an extra wrinkle) Better to be safe than sorry, I would guess.

Yes, I certainly would rather be safe than sorry, netmeg.

A blogger at webdevelopersnotes wrote that an Adsense rep said that it was okay to display a lightbox over Adsense ads. And there is an example page - linked from the blog - where they are used together.

Of course, just because one person does it doesn't mean that is is okay.

The rep also said that you cannot use Adsense in a lightbox.
