New Interface Sucks for Editing Ads

I have a lot of sites. That means I have a lot of ads. Hundreds of 'em. All types of sizes and styles. More than I can keep up with on a daily basis (specially since most of my sites are seasonal throughout the year)

Anyway, noticed some of my ads for an upcoming season were displaying in a funky way. Dull grey background with black text (and this site is on a black background; was previously a brightly colored 728x90 with black background and bright border)

Well I pondered on that for a while and realized that I'm probably getting the dull grey ad because previously I had set that spot to use "multiple palettes" and rotate between two styles. And of course, that function has been quietly canned.

Now, wouldn't you think that in the event of this, Google would set the ad to one of the two special palettes I created for this space? Well you would be wrong, as I was. When the multiple palette went away, the spot got set to "Google Default" which, apparently on a black background, is dull grey with black text.

The problem is, I have over 200 of these ads, because are spread across 51 sites, multiple page channels, and so on. And of course, there's no bulk editing capability.

But it does not stop there! In the new interface, you can filter to see the ads you want - so I can type in 728 x 90 and get all my 200+ ads. Now, I want to edit the first one. But I don't want to lose my filter. In the old interface, I could just open the link in a new window or new tab, and edit it there. But no! In the fancy new interface, you can't do that. All you can do is click on the ad and open the editing in the same window.

So you make your edits, and you save, and it takes you back to the page that lists your ads. But NOW you've lost your filter - so you have to type in 728 x 90 to get a list of the ads again, and remember (or re-sort) to the last one was you edited.

Times 200+

NOT a happy camper.

That's awful! Can you do it faster in the old interface?

Yep, I found that out last week when I wanted to remove image ads...horrible amount of unnecessary extra work.

Marginally faster in the old interface.

It's still not optimized for multiple ads on multiple channels and multiple sites. And since I'm always testing, I usually have a couple ads rotating in the same spot. I have TONS of ads in my account!

So yea, I'm a power user, but there's got to be a ton of us power users who aren't big enough to be premium, but still could use some time-saving tools.

I've actually gotten to where I like the new UI and the new reports and snapshots it gives, but I would trade it all today for the ability to upload all my ads in a CSV file.

Guess it is the click and drool nature of the new interface. It appeals to the click and drool types who design these interfaces rather than to the people who have to use them. A CSV style interface would be better.

Not using it, and last time I did, it wouldn't let you edit existing AdSense ads.

I'm still running some ad blocks with multiple settings and they still rotate colors.

But I suppose it's time to update anyhow.

Exactly.

I hate it that after you have finished editing an ad that the filter you set goes away.

+1 for the CSV
