I dont know why google gives us the option to change fonts anymore, its pointless. today i've been watching a new test of theirs, which is to make the first link bigger than all the rest in the 336 rectangle.

so there's 3 ads in the box. the first one is huge (with a bolder, thicker underline as well), and the other two are the original size. if you decide that you want to make that first one a bit smaller, then you have to reduce the font size -- but that makes the other two ads too small.

google should either let us change the fonts, and stick with it, or it should remove the option. but letting us change it and then totally ignoring what we do and messing around with the sizes and layout every few weeks is dumb.

we used to test different sizes and layouts to see which is best, but these days its like trying to walk against the wind. a couple of weeks ago they shifted the URLs next to the titles, before that it was adding underlines to the URLs, now its making the first link bigger.

of course, i dont mind them introduing this stuff -- the more options we have the better. great! but why dont they let US change them? they could quite easily give us the options and let US see which works best, but instead they are foisting the changes on everyone. instead of helping everyone increase their earnings through experimentation, they are forcing changes on everyone themselves, which probably helps as many as it hinders

Same for Large Leaderboard. In fact the first one is 12px second 11px and third one 10px.

I've noticed this in 300x250 units as well.

Started yesterday. Are they trying to get users to click on the first ad? Isn't it the highest paying one?

Goolge AdSense tests are common and be sure that they have the most granular data to see what brings in the most money for us and them.

This argument was discussed hundreds of times and because 95% of all AdSense Publishers do not really test this is the best way even though we 5% are sometimes angry about it because it messes with our testing.

At the end we will see more money due to this tests because Googles interest is all about money :)

What the heck, why not just let us say "Click this ad" ------------> [Ad]?

I really find it hard to believe sticking the URL and underlining it next to the title in the 336 block is making more money than it was before. I know I'm not.
If it's so great, how come Google doesn't use it on their site?
