Blocking Ads

I run a number of Computer software support sites, most notably Windows. Recently I added another adsense ad unit to the bottom of my page, right at the end of the content text. On checking the ads that are being deliverd to my pages I have noticed that I am getting a number of ads from justanswers.com. Normally I wouldn't be that bothered but these ads are suggesting that the user 'type in a question' for technical support to answer.

As my site already deals with support questions via an FAQ section I do not reply to email questions from my visitors. This advert is giving the impression that by typing in a question someone from my website will give then the answer. This is misleading because no one from my website will reply to their question.

I have 'blocked' justanswers.com in my google adsense account, but the ad still keeps appearing. Can anyone enlighten me as to how I am supposed to prevent this ad from appearing on my website(s). I do not like to mislead my visitor's and this ad is doing just that!

How long since you blocked it?

Sometimes the ads are served by some other network, so blocking the URL doesn't work. There are not a lot of good choices then; you might have to turn off a 3rd party network, and figuring out which one might not be so easy.

If you hover over the link you'll see a long string of google letters/numbers as a url. Tucked away in that string towards the end is the landing url and that's the url you need to block without adding "www" or anything after the tld, ie: .com, .net etc. You can use "copy link location" and paste it to a text file to get a better look if it's too long (it will be).

Hi netmeg,

It has been about three days since I blocked it, although today I have blocked justanswer.com (as well as www.justanswers.com) i know Google never play fair, but it is disgraceful if they provide a blocked URL facility and it doesn't work as it should do. It is 'my' wesbite, not google's I should have the right to accept or decline any and/or all advertisers that I do not want displayed on my site. Google should remember that 'they' are not the highest earning advertising company on my website. i'm sure they would rather me be capable of blocking 1 advert completely than removing all google ads altogether.

Hi sgt_kickaxe,

This is the later part oif the URL link:

%26adU%3Dwww.JustAnswer.com%26adT%3DImageAd%26gl%3DGB&usg=AFQjCNHnDbiJBTfRwi-f-r1fWF3OzPQDpg

The front part, which I haven't included, simply refers to my website and publisher ID. So how much of the remain URL has to be added to the blocked URL box?

As I often say, AdSense is what it is. The tradeoff for the low entrance barrier and ease of installation (just set some code and forget it) is loss of control. That's the deal, and with them it's basically take it or leave it. If they're not the highest paying advertiser on your network, then I don't know why you are using them anyway.

I think I may have solved the problem. On checking the blocked URL page I notice that I have blocked 'justanswers' instead of 'justanswer' I had added an 's' to the URL.
