I have a website in which a number of people contribute but they don't have websites themselves. Would there be a good way for them to get accepted into the adsense program so they can make a little extra money as they contribute to my website?

No. You have to have an initial website for Google to approve to be accepted into the program.

I think the best you could do is set up channels just to track their pages and share your earnings after the fact.

Can't they simply designate your site as (partially) theirs too when they apply? I know someone who did that.

Possibly there are special circumstances involved, but this is exactly what HubPages does.

The person who writes the submitted article has an Adsense account in their own name. The Adsense check comes directly to them. (There was a button or something on HubPages that I guess transferred you to the Adsense website so you could create the account.)

I think the deal was that HubPages has ad-serving software that serves their adsense accounts x% of the time and your adsense ads the other X% of the time. You're both monetized, but via individual accounts.

Your solution (better check with Adsense first) -
Have your customers set up HubPage accounts and get the Adsense account.

I just checked, my personal/hubpages adsense account has a "get ads" feature just like my corporate accounts do. It seems to be a normal account. Isn't that one of Adsense's (crummy) policies. You can use your account with any website.

x2, good idea.

Or you could modify your CMS to insert the right Adsense Code related to the autor. Don't know if there is any solution like this already, but at least with Wordpress and Drupal I think it could be done: check the autor id -> insert X code here and there.

Just keep in mind that if 5 people are involved, they should be of your full trust, as it could compromise your one Adsense account.

Don't do it, never, ever, ever.

The arguments which will ensue if there is ever a problem with Adsense will destroy all trust in all of the participating parties.
