I received an invite today to a day long seminar in Oxford - yes HuskyPup, not London, not Birmingham but Oxford! - to an Adsense seminar.

I live 10 miles from Banbury so Oxford is only a 40 mile drive for me and down the easy-drive M40. It's on June 9th so I'm definitely going. I'm truly impressed that Adsense have realised that massive cities are not the only venues for this type of event.

Any other local UK seminars being offered?

Nothing received here! Writing that I doubt I would go, even though it's "only" a 6 hour round trip for me, since I feel the AdSense programme has now past its sell by date insofar as I am concerned.

Whatever they did (to me) a few days before Thanksgiving realistically has never got back on track and with Panda 2.1 has completely destroyed any remaining credibility I had for Google.

I'm off to our factories in India and China later this week to discuss our way forward in a non-Google world, fact, not fiction:-) I have far more pressing issues than having to second-guess a bunch of over-paid incompetents at the plex (or wherever it is they screw-up thing now-a-days).

Oh,,,, I know you've been complaining over the last couple of weeks, but it now sounds a bit more serious. No platitudes to offer, just best of luck.

From the little I know of your business it seems that the latest Google troubles are something you will overcome - in your business at least. Again, good luck. If they offer any amazing info at the Oxford seminar I will post it on this forum you can be sure.

My real world business is fine, we're pedal to the metal, AdSense with it's bizarre Panda 2.1 is annoying me since I cannot justify having ads if I do not get a decent return from them.

What do I define as a decent return?

It's all proportional however anything less than USD 2,000.00 is pointless for me...quite simply I'm not prepared to give Google the credibility of working with the #1 company in my industry for free.

Free? Well a full page ad in one widget trade magazine with 10-15K circulation costs a minimum USD 3K per month with no proof of readership/viewing...multiply that by 50 trade mags worldwide.

As many people here know I was quite involved with The Net from its inception, I have to write that I am now looking beyond The Net since it is extremely important not to let companies such as Google/Bing dictate one's business fortunes...and I do know of many others thinking/feeling the same way.

And why have I still not heard about this...is it genuine?

Yes I think it's genuine. After applying, I've had a follow up email with specific details of the location etc.

After the overnight SERPs update I've absolutely nothing left to talk to them about, they've literally wiped me out and I have no idea why.

The results garbage for my widgets are just quite shockingly awful.

Hi - we got an invite - got another one today , the poor lady even telephoned - so I gave her a bit of earfull which she listened to - then promised a telephone call after the conference as I told her I was too involved in solving the Panda problem I am having to deal with to go.

If anyone is going please post a resume - especially of any one-to-one , on this thread or send me a sticky . That way I know the feeling of webmasters at the seminar before I accept their call.

Have a feeling it will be hijacked by people complaining about Panda ...

i had a telephone call too. i was half-interested in going because there was the promise of "one on one" chats with a google person. the rest of it sounded like stuff that 99% of us already know, though.

Absolutely, that would be the only reason for me attending however since it would now cost me the equivalent of nearly 10 days of June earnings just to drive there and back in fuel costs...no freakin' chance...for US members it costs me USD 115 to fill my car with 51.5 litres (13.6 US Gals) of fuel (USD 5.15 US Gal) and I would need at least two tank fulls!

I seem to be going through a quickie divorce with Google with my former love and admiration for them deprecating daily...sad but true.
