G'Day Everyone,

Haven't visited this site in quite a while however remember that there were some very helpful/friendly people who post here.

I have a couple of hand-built sites that have been serving Adsense ads for about 7 years now. They do reasonably well despite my having more or less abandoned them (procrastination more than anything). I have some ideas for additional sites that I'd like to build however as the title of the thread goes, I'm hoping to focus on fresh site content rather than hand-building the sites (as I've done in the past).

Can anyone recommend a simple CMS and/or Blog system with associated plug-ins that do well with Adsense? I've been leaning towards Wordpress (as it seems to be fairly straight-forward and well supported) however if any of you have other suggestions, I'm all ears.

I've also been toying with the idea of transferring my current sites' content into a CMS however am worried that the daily earnings by taking such a move might be adversely impacted. Have any of you had experiences (both positive and negative) with doing this? My rationale behind such a move would be to update my current sites more easily/frequently.

Any advice/direction would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you in advance,

Nathan

I just put my flagship site into WordPress after about 12 years of plain old HTML; most of my ad placements are exactly the same, and other than a few odd days, haven't noticed any fall-off. I switched it over in February, and year to date I'm way up over 2010. Just starting my peak season now.

Wordpress is the best and most user friendly Blog/CMS. We own few large sites that operate on WP and we couldn't be any happier!

thanks for the insight Netmeg and Nethead - much appreciated. Are there any specific Adsense friendly plugins for Wordpress that you can recommend?

Cheers,

Nathan

Probably, but I don't use plugins; prefer to place the ads where I want them. (Most of my sites are done in either Thesis or Genesis framesets)

Did you lose any traffic after transferring it to Wordpress? I am thinking about changing a site that I bought a couple of years ago that is fully hand-coded by the former owner, into Wordpress. As someone with only basic knowledge of html, I am finding this site very time consuming to run.

How do I transfer it to Wordpress without losing rankings? The url structure in Wordpress is obviously different and also I would really like to keep a very similar design in terms of the appearance of the site.

Thanks

Sorry for the late response but the "All in one Adsense and YPN" plugin is my favorite. I try to always use a widget friendly theme and embed another unit in the sidebar area using a "text" widget.
