The engineers can't possibly make anything worse. It could only get better. Hopefully!

Don't underestimate the power of natural stupidity to mess up artifical intelligence. :) Be careful what you wish for.

They might unplug the internet this time.

eBay unplugged their affiliates for the day yesterday, it could happen to adsense too :)

Barclays Bank server went belly-up yesterday, it was almost impossible to transfer online in or out of accounts.

There will be thousands who will go overdrawn simply because the 1st is on a holiday weekend but I bet they'll have no hesitation in charging fees even though the customer had tried to pay in.

Strange that itn't it? We have to wait 5 working days for clearances yet the banks can do it immediately for their own benefit and have "working weekends".

Yep, all automated in their favour, never the customer.

@azlinda
It could always get worse ;-)
April will be my lowest AdSense month in years. Here's to hoping May is better!

Try passing a check from one country to another, 30 days even if it's drawn from a major bank in the receiving country and is a cashiers check. They get the money instantly, the catch is they don't know if they will get to keep it and they have little recourse if the check is dishonored, thus the hold.

If you get fees because you couldn't pay online on time you can go in person and speak with a rep on the next business day and they will usually fix the situation. I doubt they do it on purpose, it's a lot of work and bad press to fix.

@Play_Bach - I'm hoping that your May is better also! Mine can't get any worse. My only problem is with traffic. It just took a drastic nosedive on April 11 and has not recovered since...I've lost about 65% of my traffic. First time in 11 years that that has happened.

@azlinda
My traffic is way down as well. Unlike a lot of sites hit by Panda, mine doesn't appear to be one of those affected by the update as my keywords and pages indexed have remained practically unchanged.

Rather, I suspect it's got more to do with Google's shift in layout design that has moved my site down. Most people are so habituated to look at the top returns as the best links to click on and don't question why. As I've mentioned in other threads here going back to Froogle shopping bag icons displacing the top results in 2005, this is an ongoing pattern of Google taking the best spots on the page for their properties. It's just business and I don't see them changing their layout back anytime soon. If anything, Google's layouts are going to get more aggressive for anything having to do with revenue, not less.

I'm going to do a thorough review of my ad placements right now. Thanks, Play_Bach.
