Just found out (duh!) that embedding a YouTube video on a site running AdSense doesn't work. Earlier today I embedded a YouTube video on my site. Logged in a little while ago to my AdSense account and noticed that while impressions are up, click count and earnings are a big 0 on the pages where the YouTube video was. So clearly NOT the thing to do folks. Unintentional or not, embedding a YouTube video appears to be risky business. For all I know I may have just committed a TOS violation. Needless to say, the video has been removed. Yikes.

hmmm... this post from the ASA of 2007 would seem to contradict my post:

No need to write to AdSense support about it - I can give you an answer from our policy specialists here. :)
As long as you're displaying YouTube videos in a way that's compliant with YouTube's policies, and the content of the videos complies with AdSense's policies (e.g. no adult content, etc.), you're welcome to put AdSense on pages with embedded YouTube videos.

Keep in mind that the AdSense crawlers can only read the text-based content of your pages, so adding video won't affect your ad targeting, but we do believe that video content can enhance the overall user experience and site appeal.

Anybody know what the current policy is? ASA?
Thanks!

As Google own YT, it's certainly not a violation of TOS.

Youtube has their own adsense partner program. You're allowed to post YT videos on your adsense pages.

I have AdSense running on pages with YouTube videos. No problem that I can see. (The video is only a small portion of the content on the page, if that matters)

Thank you both very much for the replies! :-)
Maybe I'm just being paranoid because my stats make no sense at all today and so I'm jumping to conclusions. Hopefully all is ok. Thanks again!

You're allowed to post YT videos on your adsense pages.

IIRC, it is not as straight forward as that. If you have a page[s] soley of YT videos and littered with adsense, then Google does not like that.

It is how they are used on your site.

What makes me wonder is this senario...
Create say 5 YT video's each with adsense on them.
Then put them on a page with plenty of content, and add maximum adsense adverts (Ad units, Link Units and Search).

Would that break the TOS ? ASA ?

...because my stats make no sense at all today and...

Don't worry about today's stats until tomorrow, when they're a little more "finalized".

Thanks Lame Wolf - I don't think it's clear cut either. The video I put up actually had me in it!, but because it wan't "my video" but a friends account I believe (perhaps erroneously), that I tripped some kind of AdSense filter. In the seven years I've been with AdSense I haven't seen stats like this. Hard to look past it and think it's just a coincidence... anyhow... thanks!

Hopefully Play_Bach, that ASA will see this thread and give some advice.

You stirred things up a little. Give it several days, and then make judgements, if you can. Don't jump with one or two days info.

Thanks dibbern2, you may be right. Yesterday's stats freaked me out and got me searching for answers. Some of the posts I read talked about people getting band for embedding video while others said it was ok - not a reassuring consensus. In any event, I won't be doing it again - not worth the stress.
