Adsense beta link block coverage

I have 98% coverage for horizontal banners and 93.5% for vertical banners.
But my link block coverage is only at 1.8% - according to Adsense beta.

I am using only text ads, have no problems with the other link block metrics and everytime I manually check my ads, there is fitting content in them.
If the link blocks would have a coverage of more then 90% like the banners, everything would make perfect sense.

Is the coverage of linkblocks calculated in a different way then the coverage of the banners?
Is this an Adsense beta bug?

That's a good question, but this coverage metric is so new (at least to us) that I don't think anyone has an answer yet.

I see similar huge differences in coverage between regular ads and links.

Be interesting to know why.

I have the same low coverage for adlinks, I concluded that they counted it only when these ads were shown after someone clicked on the keywords, so the coverage is actually CTR for the keywords.

I was wondering why some sites had 50-55% coverage. Again, it would be the average from 99% for banner ads, and 1-2% for adlinks.

1-2% for link units is normal since that's how many actual ads are triggered. Link units don't trigger ads unless someone clicks through to see them.

It does throw off the stats a bit but it's working as it should.
