Simple question:

On Adsense, has anyone successfully blocked this clothing site, "bonobos?" I have tried .com and the ad server its using... no luck.

Not bad looking ads, but totally irrelevant to my site content and taking up the whole wide skyscraper, causing my CTR to go WAY down...

Help!

Another question hoping that I can gain from others' experience here on WW... How can you determine the landing domain to block, when the banner ads are in Flash? I am so careful not to click them, but I can't find them using the Google Preview tool... Some of these ads simply are not relevant (and won't get clicked) and are forcing out the other relevant ads with their higher bids. Anyone?

When you see the ad displayed on your site, using Firefox, right-mouse click over the AdSense ads and select "this frame->view frame source" and the entire AdSense source code including landing URLs will be displayed in a new window.

The using the FIND command, search for "adurl=" and it will take you directly to the landing page URL.

When you enter the URL into AdSense competitive filters, only use the base domain such as "example.com", never include the "http://www." or anything else because advertisers bypass blocking specific domains by changing them to "thisad.example.com" or "thatad.example.com".

Only using "example.com" stops all the nonsense.

FWIW, forget the AdSense preview tool, massive waste of time IMO.

True, there are smart guys using several domains for the same so is not a "block one .com and done", you need to block every site they use.

As for flash ads I'm using firebug to inspect elements and find out the url so I can add it to my blocked sites. Firebug is a firefox extension

Thanks incredibill and explorador - so grateful for your tips. Thanks.

netmeg - lol. Bonobos is a pervasive monkey indeed - I can't get rid of it!
