Filed An Appeal On A Blocked Site I Just Bought

What Should I Expect

Hey Guys

Recently I bought 2 sites running AdSense.

One of them had been blocked. The lady I bought them from had received a 72 hour notice to change ad placement but didn't because she really didn't know what to do.

This notice was sent to her about 3 months ago.

I am already an AS publisher - tried it for my commercial site 3 years ago and then gave up. However, I do have a valid and current AS account.

I re-published both sites with new ads and my publisher ID and one is fine, the other doesn't show any ads.

I filed 2 appeals.... One for clicks and another through a different AS link. The reason that I did both was because I was not certain where the appeal needed to go and for what reason.

My question is:

As a publisher in good standing.... buying the account with the blocked ads... is it likely that AS will unblock them... and how long should the appeal process take.

Your experiences and thoughts are very much appreciated.

Thank you

OK, I am not an expert, but...

If I were you, I would remove my AS code from that site NOW.
Probably remove it from the other site also - just incase.

You state about AS -
"tried it for my commercial site 3 years ago and then gave up"
but finish by saying -
"As a publisher in good standing.."

I don't really see how the first statement leads to the second.

If you knew about the problem with that site, then it probably wasn't a good idea to buy it and certainly not to put your AS code on it.

I agree with denisl.

I assume that you have changed the ad placement? Until you have e-mail clearance and approval from Google showing them what you have done I wouldn't risk it.

You know, if I wanted to keep my adsense account, I would never put adsense code even on my site that is allowed now and hope Adsense support never reviews my email. I would even ban both sites from showing adsense ads at all by using the "Allowed Sites" feature in my adsense account.

Google might terminate your account.

Hey Guys

Thanks for your input... but I bought two sites. One was fine, the other was blocked because of ad placement - I think - certainly not for clicks.

Anyway... I cleaned up the site that was blocked, took her AS banners and boxes and links off of both of them and replaced everything with mine.

In essense, I removed what I felt violated AS TOS (link units too close to navigation) and I filed for an appeal.

So... I am not sure that I did anything wrong...

I am curious though... how long it should take for the appeal to be read... and the site unblocked.

Thanks in advance.

Given adsense doesn't have a formal 'appeals process' the way, say, webmaster tools does - we look forward to the data point you will be able to give us.
I'm not even sure Adsense even takes appeals. myself.

Granted it is some time I last did it however when I had a query about an ad positioning I sent an e-mail and it was sorted within a few days.

In Arctrust's situation since his perceived problem has been resolved, I'd send the e-mail advising how he has come to own the site and ask if it now complies with G's policies etc.

Indeed it will be interesting to see how long it takes them to respond these days.

Arctrust, I'm not sure that you fully appreciate how careful most of us are with our precious AS accounts. Don't put your AS ID on a site that has been banned.
Not sure what my advise would really be - probly run that site for some time without AS first - develop the site and use other means of monetisation for now.

Guys

Thank you for all your insight.

I put my code on the site, simply because I feel, and felt at the time that the site is very informative, well laid out and does indeed have something to offer the visitor.

In examing the site, I also noticed that the violation was a matter of asthetics rather than deception and as such I felt the site was indeed salvageable.

In any event... I will indeed wait for a reply - its been now about 10 days and if nothing changes (site is unblocked) within the next month... I will consider simply monetizing it through a different means.

Again, thank you!

Good luck Arctrust.

I'm not that brave, I'd have stripped the old ad code off the "warned" site and submitted the site for specific approval before putting my code on the site.
