yes you can have a search box. I don't know what you mean by "the little text ads" - are you talking about link units?

Thank You
Question: If I get ny adsense code for an ad unit can I paste it in 3 different places? Or do I need to generate a new code for each location?

You can place the same code, though, you'd not be able to analyze the best ad size!
Have different channels for different location would be my suggestion.

3 Adsense units plus a link unit? On a new site or at least one getting only 300-400 daily impressions? I wouldn't do that.
One 336 x 280 near top left, them one wide ad at the bottom is the furthest I would push it. You can then more easily analyse the results and the 336 x 280 will work best - promise! Redesign your pages if it doesn't naturally fit in.
Good luck, just keep adding good content and analysing what ads work best.

It's possible that your new ads are just not as appealing to people who click as the old ads. One easy thing to tryis to set it back like it was and see if your CTR improves.
120x600 text ads work best for me but then others swear by different formats and sizes. I think that rather than redesign the whole site around a different ad format, I would experiment with it first, even if it looks awkward.
Also, at 300-400 ad views per day, I would spend 98% of my time writing new articles instead of experimenting with ad formats. Your traffic is low but it's definitely worth cultivating. If you spend too much time with the ads, what's it worth? A few dollars a day? Meanwhile if you instead write one extra article per day then that's worth more than $3 in the long run... a LOT more! In time you will find many of those article each making a few dollars per day on their own.
Good luck!

Have you actually read the TOS and Program Policies? All your answers are there. It's good to learn them, so you know what they are.
Personally, to have the max amount of adverts per page makes it look rather spammy.

My concern was originally the drop in adsense clicks though. But as I post more news articles the headlines appear in a photo gallery...and the photos are all from one category which happens to have the word mortgage in it...this gallery appears at the side of every page.
So when I would write an article on Menopause...mortgage ads were appearing for most of the ads.
This probably explains my sudden drop in CTR

I found a good way to increase your adsense clicks is to have a strategy. Like look at the top 3 - 5 sites that are performing consistently well. Then devote your time and effort to write more contents and increase the pages.
