I'd like to put a Google-Search on any empty result page that is generated by my own search. Will that be ok for Adsense or do I need content around the search field too?

Welcome.

Are you talking an AdSense Search box or actually displaying AdSense ads on the page? I don't believe you need any content for an AdSense search, but you'll need more if you're going to display ads on the results page.

Thank you, and thanks for your welcome :-)
It is just about placing the search field on that page.

I've been using the search for about a month without issue on a page with one short sentence & 10 links. The query provides the content they need for the ads (which they host & display) so I wouldn't think they care where the referrals come from.

If they decide to look closely at your site they could decide it was a page with no content and you could get a warning for it.

You could make a zero results page with a "Didn't find what you are looking for? Here are quick links to our most popular sections of ABC Widgets" with some links and descriptions, which would give the page some content in the eyes of AdSense.
