Filtering ebay affiliates

My client in Austria is reporting that she is getting ebay affiliate ads for eaby.at.

How do I set the Url filter to block them from showing?

I tried,

ebay.at

and

adfarm.mediaplex.com/ad/ck/#*$!-#*$!x-#*$!x-xx , which I assumed to be the actual adurl variable

both to no avail.

any hints?

PS: the '#*$!' was inserted automatically, I tried to give an exact number of characters with x's, I guess that wasn't good enough;

Try blocking adfarm.mediaplex.com - you are probably running into many multiple affiliates which is why the complete string didn't seem to work, or they are using slightly different URL strings. However, I am not sure if any non-eBay affiliate programs use adfarm.mediaplex.com as well - if they do, you will be blocking them as well.

Ther are a few more URLs to block as well. eBay is handled via Commission Junction and they recently released new tracking redirect URLs.

I would just block everything ebay.com.

Jenstar I will try your suggestion. I do not want to block too many affiliate programs since I have other sites, where I do not mind those ads whatsoever.

Part of the deal I have with that particular client is that the ad income is mine, as part compensation, but I don't want to block potentially lucrative clicks on other pages.

I will report whether adfarm mediaplex worked.

well I just heard back from Austria;

'adfarm.mediaplex.com' as the filtered url didn't filter out the affiliate ads.

Try www.mediaplex.com

The filter treates mediaplex.com and www.mediaplex.com as two different URL's.

the url says adfarm.mediaplex though. that should mean if I put www.mediaplex that it would NOT get filtered - or does it?

[adfarm] is a subdomain of mediaplex.com

This is standard URL address format for any website. Subdomain names precede the main URL address. So if you want to block content and filtering the subdomain doesn't work, use the main URL address. Google has told me sometimes just [xyz.com] is sufficient. If that doesn't filter it, then you have to enter [www.xyz.com]
