I was reading the "total number of members" post and thinking about the payment amounts. Considering G is now pauying out close to $100 million per month, the number of members getting checks must be up there pretty high.

Yes, it is becoming more common for people to have their checks require a signature when being deliverd instead of the small checks via the post office.

I look at the check numbers in the Payment History. The difference between Aug and Sep was 22,195. So That tells me 22195 checks were paidout in Sep (average). If you say 100 million was paid out, then the average check was $4505.51.

If we knew some kind of breakdown of check amounts, we cuold get a feel if its a low or high percentage are making high money.

I don't think it's necessarily that cut and dry. We don't know the order they issue checks, which could put your numbers off by double one way or the other.

IMHO - Maybe. In my 20 years of retail business, generally accepted accounting practices would indicate that check numbers are sequential. I could see sales orders nubmers being randomly generated though.

i agree w/ the sequential order. however, a bigger question may be what other checks are being written? i.e. payroll, vendors, etc...

I would think that for accounting purposes, such a large volume of check payout, that a separate checking account would be in place.

I think content partners like AOL and MyWay are included in this as well... Which would make the average checks for typical webmasters much less than $4,500.

True. Even giant sites are using Adsense, so they will definitely skewer the earning mean.
