Hi everybody - I need a little perspective on my first real attempt at a website. I've tried once in the past but this time given it my all. Let me break it down for you. Site has been on a little under 2 months.

1850 pages of content with another 150 added 11 march. 3,500 images of my own.

Google have indexed 250 ish pages so far. Yahoo have indexed 65 so far and bing ( shocker ) have only indexed the homepage.

According to yahoo i have 427 IBL's and a PR of 0

I'm roughly getting 100 to 150 visitors a day.

Is this good as my only real overhead at the moment is domain and hosting which is peanuts.

Can the more experienced tell me if this is ok? Thankyou

Hi,

you won't get the type of answer you are seeking around here :)

There are too many variables at play to generalise about your succces or otherwise based on the limited data you have provided. I'm not saying you haven't provided enough data. I'm saying no-one is going to make a judgement call.

They are very serious on this forum. :)

Cheers

Two months is a rather short period of time to see where the site may go. Sounds like you have invested the time and effort, just give it time to grow.

Since you posted your question in the Adsense forum, and your say this is your first real attempt at a website - are we correct to think it's the same website you posted about here in January [webmasterworld.com...] ?

If so, have you been re-instated into the Adsense program?

No not the same site, google were nice enough to re-istate my account as i provided them with all the info they wanted. That was about a year ago, from there i decided to go back to the drawing board and start a fresh.

I now follow the simple guidelines that members of this forum has layed out. Good, high quality content, Focus on visitors requirements and not on getting ad clicks. Fine tuning the little things to make the most out of the site.

Thanks for all of your help.

Two months is way too soon to reach any solid conclusions.

That said, looking at the 1,850 page/3,500 image stats raises a couple questions for me.

Do you know how many of your images G has indexed? Are many of your current visitors coming from the image search?

Are your images well captioned and did you include descriptive alt text for each im age?

Is there a significant amount of related text on each page where the images appear?

Beyond the image related stuff, another question is where you get the 150 visitors a day number. Is that a raw number that of all visitors, including bots, or from some analytics program like G Analytics?

I have read some of the other posts based on the imagebot, at present google have not indexed a single image, but more than post mentioned that indexing images can take months. All the images however have all of the proper alt text and are inclusive to the text on each page.

As for the 100 to 150 visitors a day that info is from my web hosters analytics service which is well layed out and informative. That does not include bots. The visitors are coming from a combo of search engines and external links.
