I asked some weeks ago about Twitter experience regarding AdSense.

Now I have this experience.

Created about 500 targeted follows, got 120 followers,
this converted in about 40 visits to my sites
and 1 click.

Because my sites have many different themes,
I tried 4 different waves of tweets, followed by making targeted follows for this themes.

But seems for the majority, the 140 char long tweet is enough, no more information required.

Google Analytics show Twitter users compared to the average visitor

34% shorter visits
22% higher rate to go away
48% less page views per visit

I think a while ago Technorati did a study that shows that less than 1% visitors to websites come from Twitter. I think the use of Twitter to drive traffic and Adsense income is not guaranteed for all websites, but I guess if you have really interesting updates throughout the day then people might really visit the links you suggest. Otherwise, most people follow way too many people to actually visit any website unless they are using it as a way to find latest update on whatever they are interested in.

Just checked my site in Alexa. Big surprise, Alexa stats show 5% Twitter traffic.

My own referer log shows 1% from all referers May 1st until now

Google Analytics shows 0,15% of all visits in the last 30 days.

Only Alexa tells complete different.
But I started the Twitter experiment, because I have seen at ohter sites in the Alexa stats up to 15% Alexa traffic.

So this could be a simila miss estimation as at my own site.
