Relationship of Impressions to CTR to Earnings

Hi.

I've been reading this board for months now and have learned a lot from you all.

One thing still puzzles me.

I don't understand the relationship between impressions and clickthrough rate to earnings per click.

I always thought that the a given word was worth the same whether the page had 10 impressions or 1000 impressions. The same whether a page had a .04% clickthrough rate or a 40% clickthrough rate.

However, some of the posts lead me to believe this not to be the case.

Do impressions and/or CTR rate effect the earnings per click? Thanks.

Actually, I had the same question.

If I have 5 pages with a 10% CTR and 1 page with a .05% CTR, should I take AdSense off the lower performing page?

I have some pages that have a very low CTR, but a very high EPC, and vice versa, and some in the middle on both graphs.

Unless Jenstar or another adsense authority knows otherwise, I'd say that EPC is strictly related to google inventory and advertiser budgeting at the time. Advertiser budgets increase and decrease like the wind. So, you'll see wild fluctuations in EPC, sometimes on a daily basis.

If you have a higher paying alternative - yes, otherwise - no.

Some speculations on this forum said that low CTRs on some pages or sites would have an effect on EPC due to smart pricing. I don't buy it since the data from my channels haven't shown that. They're independent to each other. As long as they made some extra bucks, I will keep them.
