I've just received an email to notify me of the payment.
This is the first time I've ever received such an email.
I'm guessing this is a new feature.

LOL You just beat me to it. I got it too. Never had one before, and it is from Google.

As well as I. I checked the payment amount this am and now see that amount has changed for last month. They should have something that says adjustment rather than just a new amount.
Also, just happens to be the exact same amount as the month before?
Strange...

Haven't any of you already gotten your payment?

Yes, and already in the bank, which is extremely early for me. I normally receive mine between the 5th and 10th of each month.

I similarly received the very same email.
"MailWasher" didn't report this as being from a "scam" email address site. Yes, I checked source code.
So why the hell would AdSense send you an email about last months payment?
Doesn't make sense at all.
Sadly, it immediately leads me to believe there is NO mechanism to report scammers to AdSense.
I don't believe for one second, AdSense is so stupid enough to send this totally meaningless email.
But someone "massaging or conditioning" you over a period of time may well do so.

You need to jump in on this right away. Yes I preserved my email and you're welcome to the source code.

I do officially know that this came from Google. Look at the header code.

Yes it did come from Google but I found mine in my Junk Suspects folder.

Hmmm.. everything looks in order in the headers. Its even to the correct email address which I only use for G. Although what the point is of an email 10ish days after I have the money, I can't imagine. (and, as always with adsense mail from google - it lands in my junkmail. Very sad. No idea what it is tripping.)

So those who don't get the mail.. don't get the money ?
No mail in India or payment yet.

A phishing attempt was my first thought, however, all looked legitimate. Just to be on the safe side, I logged into my account without following the link in the email and looked at the last payment.
The amount of the last payment (which had already been processed by the bank) changed (increased).
I'm OK with that, just wish I knew why :)

I wonder how much of a carbon footprint this has made. What a waste. I'll be receiving emails from them next letting me know that someone clicked on an advert. :/

My opinion is that is a very bad movement from Google doing this, because sending an email looking 100% like a normal phishing can create confusion for future genuine ones. If next month we receive a fake one maybe some people will assume that is a good one, and will not check the source code first.

lol I totally agree... thought it was a bogus email for a while there until I checked it out and it is legit, 5 days after payment was made (and spent).... what a waste of time employing someone to do that!

Received the same email. In my case it notify me that i was paid too much in error and that they will make an adjustment next payment.
As I said earlier, I received it [Oz - EFT]. Given now that it is legitimate, I'm still totally baffled by its intent.
I checked back on my earning for December and it tallies exactly to the amount deposited in my bank on the 29th. So it's not a correction notification.
So what's the real purpose? Wholly pointless as far as I can see.

Sometimes we stupid people get to thinking we have a monopoly on making mistakes. But that's just a kind of arrogance. Natural aptitude and experience we have in spades, yes; we have the advantage in productivity and efficiency: but, face it, guys, it's still a buyer's market out there.

These emails are being sent out by our team to help publishers better anticipate their payments. The idea is to cut down on payments-related issues by helping publishers plan in advance.
I would think given all the PIP threads that get started here that you guys would be happy to get a heads-up every month when your money's on its way. :)
