AdSense video ads getting annoying

Remember a few years ago when lots of people were learning to build sites, and unfortunately, learning to put all sorts of bells & whistles on their sites? You would visit a site and before getting the information you wanted you'd have to see their cartoon bears dancing to Barry Manilow music, view their Flash presentation, etc.

I'm beginning to have the same frustration with AdSense video ads that start automatically when I visit a page - and there doesn't seem to be any way of stopping them/turning them off. I've found myself clicking the ads just to try and find a way to get it to stop. That can't be good for the advertisers.

Can't this be solved by specifying "Text Only"?
Or do you still want static image ads?

I haven't used image ads for over 4 years for various reasons - low paying primarily. And, I DETEST any screen movement not caused by myself. Since I can't specify "Static Image Only", forgetaboutit. Text only for me.

As far as videos that play automatically, that would ENRAGE ME. If I couldn't turn them off, it would be bye-bye AdSense forever. Period.

It would appear that he is complaining about video ads in general, unless he thinks clicking ads on his own site is a good idea.

If you want to turn them off for yourself only just install a Flash-blocking plugin. Then if you're curious about the ad, you just click on the "F" (won't be seen by Google as a click-thru).

Update: One of my favorite blogs to visit has put up a post that they had so many complaints they were removing the ads. And they have.
