Bold ad text

Google feeling the pinch?

Just noticed this; one of my 336x280 ad blocks is showing the text of the first ad in bold! Now if that doesn't attract attention - and clicks - I don't know what will!

Seen it in a bunch of ad units for over a week now. Pretty freaking hideous. Some of the text even disappears. The end result is something that looks like rookie text formatting.

Guess it works better for some than others.

Wait until you get the top two ads bolded in a 160x600 ad unit. Of course, some ads have more text than others but some of the results are hideous.

I've seen this in some of my skyscrapers.

I'm sure I have a "account default" set. Why is this over-ridden?

They do that whenever they want to try something new.

Apparently setting our "preferences" simply means we would prefer something, not that G agrees to give it to us. At least that seems to the premise they operate on.

Isn't that why they're called "preferences" instead of "settings"?

I just saw this on my site for the first time yesterday. I guess only time will tell if it helps. The GORG is always trying new stuff whether or not you want them to.
