My content area is always 600 pixel width

Normal starts with the title and a up to 180 char long description.
After this starts the content.

Now is my idea to place between description and content
an 468x15 AdLink

Having the 468x15 AdLink above my content is one of my highest earners.

You might want to try testing it out for a week or so on your most popular pages and see what the CTR is like.

I use the 728x15, but link units consistently do *very* well for me. I'd try it, by all means.

I have the same experience with one link unit at the beginning and one at the bottom of the pages. With good results.

I have them near end of pages with variable results according to phases of the moon.

BUT

They make money I'd otherwise not see.

It was expected, that this AdLink in the content would be a real top placement. With 5 ads (2 big rectancles, 3 AdLink) on a page, I expected more than 20% of total revenues on this pages from this new AdLink in content

Now I can compare 13 to 20 December, 3 small subdomains.

40,04 EUR all together from this 3 subdomains.
4,26 EUR the new AdLink in content

Only 10%

But now something very strange wired, I compared the eCPM of this page, only the channels with the old ad placements.

Dec 1 to Dec 15
Dec 15 to Dec 20 where the additional ad is in the content

Surprise

10% higher CTR
40% higher eCPM

At all the sites with the additional ad is now Google Analytics for AdSense working.

I had before always the problem, that this did not work.

Before in the source text of my pages

AdSense
My javascript
Google Analytics Javascript

After the change

AdSense
Google Analytics Javascript
My javascript

Can it be, that the working Google Analytics Javascript influenced AdSense income?

Just talked with my student, it teached him last year.

He started with the new AdLink in content yesterday in the evening.
He uses an other color scheme.

This ad placement is today his top performer.

Just trying his color scheme

I was just before to stop the experiment, because the CTR of the new AdLink in content was to frustrating.

I changed the color scheme of the new AdLink in content according to the proposal of my student.

Now it works great!

25% of revenues from new AdLink in content
All the 3 AdLink on each page contribute 60% of revenues.

Did revenue go UP by those amounts? Or are the AdLinks just getting clicks that would otherwise go to regular ad blocks?

The 728x15 on top is my top earner. Then comes the in-content 336x280, then the mid-content 728x15 link unit. I love these babies, they blend in perfectly and attract some good clicks.

I figure a well-placed 468x15 can do magic for sites that can't accomodate the 728x15.

So what is the color scheme you changed to?

In content area
light background
black text

The AdLink in content area before:
a little bit darker background
black text
black link

The AdLink in content area after the suggested change
same background like content area
black text
blue link

The AdLink in content is not present on all pages.

It's built only on about 80% of the pages in the layout.

But it contributed Dec 24 to Jan 2 23% of revenues.

I just implemented the above idea in my site on a high traffic page. I added a 468x15 ad link in the middle of the page below a sub title. I'll let you guys know what I get.
