Use in Channel Description?

I've notice that several of my ad channels are getting higher CTR and eCPM for Placement Vs. Contextual Ads. I've never really paid attention to this before but on a couple of ads the difference is quite substantial. So, wanted to get some thoughts regarding the channel description and adding demographic info.

I'm wondering if the Placement Ad is performing so much better because they have targeted my demographics?

What's the best way to find and verify demographic info to put into description or is this even necessary as the advertisers doing the Placement targeting are already researching site demographics?

Somewhere here there's a thread where that question was asked, and I believe someone from Google indicated that demographics would be a good choice for that area. You might try a search, the thread was from earlier this year, I believe during the summer.

Thanks AndyA. I found this thread where ASA says to include Demographics:

[webmasterworld.com...]

So I guess I'll do that and use the free Demographics info available from Quantcast.

I've noticed the same thing. However...

... FWIW, I've been with AdSense since the beginning and I don't think I've ever done anything along the lines of enhancing things for advertisers who may want to target my site(s) or channels.

Putting demographics in channel information is useful.

I'd also recommend updating your site's information in Google Ad Planner [google.com]. When advertisers I worked with were looking to target certain demographics in a placement-targeted campaign, they would always search for that audience in Ad Planner.

Also, we frequently see a rise in placement targeting around the holidays as branding advertisers increase their spend. YMMV, of course, but the holidays are a great time for advertisers to run big campaigns.

Thanks ASA and mysticalsock. The video was actually what prompted my question. I have added the demographic info and updated my sites info in Ad Planner so hopefully this will help get some more targeted placements!

I'm not sure where/how Google gets the traffic information they provide (I'm not in Analytics), but it's way, way off for my site, which would seem to be a negative to potential advertisers. I don't see a way to correct it. Is there?
