How many channels can you have on your adsense account? It seems to say 50 but then it confuses me somewhat.

"With up to 50 AdSense channels, plus 50 AdSense for search channels available for each publisher, you can use channels to gain the insight you need to optimise your site's performance."

What does this mean? Fifty adsense channels. Plus 50 adsense for search channels. What is that?

Jon - well confused!

50 for normal AdSense and 50 more for AdSense websearch pages.

You can create 50 channels for "AdSense for content" and 50 channels for "Adsense for search."

"Adsense for content" is what we normally think of when we say "Adsense." See:

"Adsense for search" is where you can add a search box to your site. See:

If you have a huge site with lots of categories, how can you track by topic effectively? The 50 channel restriction is not enough for me.

Any other solutions or suggestions?

Are you only allowed to have one Adsense account per company?

This had been discussed in other threads--you can have as many INACTIVE channels as you like, and clicks on those just get lumped in with your overall earnings.

So you can create, say, 500 channels but only track 50 of them at any given time.

At least, that's the only solution that seems to be available--but if you are multi-million page views site, you could always ask them for more channels and see what they say.

I don't mean to hijack this thread but does anyone know how long it takes for your channel data to be reported? Does it take more than 24 hours?

Edit: nevermind I see the 2 day delay notice now.

If you can split your site into sections just put the section code on every page of each section. Then when you see in your logs that one page seems to be getting lots of visitors then make one just for that. Also you could use server side scripting to change the ID's around every so often. You can have tons of channels just only 50 can be active. With server side scripting and includes you can do some real fancy stuff. You can detect if a page came from a certain SE or just from any SE or from a certain referer and serve up a particuler channel ID. If you are using ppc to drive traffic to your site you can use tracking codes and detect that to determine what ID to put in. That way you could tell if what you are doing is working or not. You could have a PPC channel. If it is a lower number than your PPC spending you know to quite. Man I keep thinking of all kinds of things to do.
