I'm coming from the Google AdWords side, as an advertiser. I have a hard time with extracting info about referring site that has sent traffic through content network (AdSense).

I normally track keywords by picking variables like "q" in Google's case.
Since this does not matter when about content network, I hoped the "p" variable that I saw referring to the domain name of the site that served AdSense ads would help.
But, I also saw referring links without this "p" variable, so the "url" one is the only choice.

I know I have to figure out how to extract that info from the link, but wanted to check in here, and get your confirmation about those variables, and ask why the "p" is not always available.

Is there any online info about working with link referral from AdSense? Whatever I typed when I searched, I've got something totally out from what I needed.

Thanks

I suspect your question belongs in the adwords forum, rather than here.
We don't know much about these magic blackboxes that we let Google put on our sites, because they don't tell us much (and experimentation isn't really approved).

Sorry! I would have expected that the referer was simply the URL of the page where the ad was clicked, rather than anything parameter based. Surprised to hear otherwise.
