Ads not displaying on all pages - HELP!

I just set up a new site tonight - just about the same time the maintenance started.

I copied and pasted the adsense code from another site since I couldn't log in - maybe that might be a reason?

Thanks
Stephen.

Sometimes the ads won't appear right away because the algo is digesting the page.

This will sort out after a bit, it depends on the amount of traffic traveling through that particular page.

Well - there should be a fair bit of traffic through the site - esp the home page even though the site is new as the name was temporarily parked and I have now put up a new site.

I have the option for showing public service ads and not even those are showing.

Anybody got any ideas? There are one or two of the sites pages showing something but only a few of them.

Cheers
Stephen.

Did you own the site when it was parked ? Maybe the site was banned in the past.

Have you tried using link units ?

I have owned for several months but it wan't previously mine. Ads did show up in the preview tool and they are on some pages - If it was banned, would it at least show up public service ads? I set up a url channel in my stats and it is recording traffic, at least I guess for the pages which are showing ads.

Maybe it's something to do with me adding it during the maintenance period yesterday?

<url removed> I did this site at the same time. This has the same theme, and some similar problems though ads display on a greater proportion of the pages.

Try validating your pages first. Sometimes this cures the problem.

those sites look like made-for-adsense ones to me. you probably whipped them up in ten minutes flat. they even use the same template. you're not going to make any money off those.

how are they ever going to rank?

which ads do you expect to get for a topic like 'saturn'? how many advertisers are selling stuff to do with saturn. you're just going to end up getting psa's all the time.

Wish they only took 10 minutes. They do have the same theme but that is for ease of use for the time being.

Admittedly nobody might be interested in selling Saturn related products, but astonomy in general? There are about 20 pages of content so not exactly a 10 minute job.

OK - I am hoping I worked this out.

My robots.txt is.

My web designer set up the site this way until all the content is added. Would this cause the site not to prevent ads showing on some pages?

Thanks - and sorry for posting links here earlier - mods have given me a slap.

SThanks
Stephen.

No.
If it did it would affect all pages, not some.

Oh well I'll leave it for a few days to see what happens - what did you mean by try validating your pages in the earlier response?

Thanks - appreciate your comments.

Stephen.

what did you mean by try validating your pages.

Your pages do not validate. With invalid code anything can happen. Best to rule that out as a problem.

Google "html validator" or similar.

In the first place, stop trying to show ads until your content is added.

In the second place, once your site actually *has* content, and you're ready to show ads, take that out. The various Google bots have to be able to see your site.

If some pages are showing ads, maybe there are cached versions of those pages in the index, I don't know without looking at your site.

But remove the AdSense until you're ready to launch for real.

Thanks netmeg.

I did only launch after the content was mostly added. Problem is I forgot to take off the exlusions for a few days afterwards and I think that is why i am having trouble with ads as the version of the site in the main Google index is only the url with no content indexed. Anyway now getting a mixture of public service and real ads so getting there now.
