How much new adsense account activation takes times?

Can anybody tell me that now-a-days how much time it will take google adsense team to approve new adsense account?
one of my frined is saying that his application is under reviw more than one month but he has not received any approvel mail from google.

A friend of mine applied for an adsense account last month and it google adsense team approve his application after 2 days ... Well his site is more than 2 years old and lots of good content in it.
