Are AdSense-based businesses leveraging Twitter?

Twitter is clearly emerging as a new marketing channel, and one that, if properly managed, can yield large amounts of traffic. I'd love to hear from AdSense publishers as to whether or not Twitter marketing is on the rise and if so, whether or not it's positively impacting AdSense revenues.

Any thoughts?

I use twitterfeed for some of my RSS feeds to automate updates on twitter but haven't noticed any significant impact on AdSense. Slight increase in traffic, yes, but have a feeling most of the hits are just bounces (twitter crowd seems to be interested in bite-size gratification.)

However, I read elsewhere on this forum that twitter has worked for, say, a pizza-delivery outlet that monitors twitter for neighbourhood pizza-craving tweets and then delivers promptly.

For AdSense websites, I think twitter can be a supplement to increasing traffic, like other traffic generating ideas. But that's about it, isn't it?

Leveraging? It's more like spamming isn't it?

Following an certain individual or business on Twitter is opt-in.

I read somewhere that only like 1 percent of your followers will click and read the article on your website. Therefore, while there is a future for twitter marketing (as things change and evolve), currently I am not spending very much time in bringing traffic from twitter.

Personally, I've never seen a medium that converts as poorly as twitter. The only 'visitors' I get from twitter are dubious bots and the occasional uninterested person. I've heard of people making a killing on twitter alone, but the word 'spam' somehow seems to follow these people in my mind. Ofcourse, chances are I just suck at twitter.

Regardless, I've stopped using it for marketing purposes. Social media have never been my cup of tea.

No doubt.

BUT is it useful traffic? Does it convert?

Me thinks NOT! Social media is a sheer waste of bandwidth commercially. Fine for kids with nothing better to do. How do you sell to kids?

Adults using it? They would need to get a life and those using it are unlikely to be buyers because financially they aren't better off than the kids.

Which gives rise to an obvious questions! How can Twitter become financially viable? How could AdSense possibly succeed on Twitter?
