I had a channel that had a pretty good CPM (for my industry) and I decided to create three new channels - all identical in every way except for the channel name. This was done for monitoring purposes as though the filename is the same, the content comes in three flavours - so I set up these three channels to reflect this - and also to see which of the three flavours was doing best.

The answer it seems is none of them! In all three cases the effetive CPM fell by 60%, yet the text content on the pages is identical to before, as are the clickthrough rates and the adverts!

This seems to point to Channels "earning" a better CPM over time - kind of makes sense, but would have liked to have seen a big red flashing warning reading "Go Back Fool" when I went to do this. Anyone else seen similar results?

sorry just need to note - here is only ever ONE advert on the age - the original channel was removed and one of the three new ones is diplayed depending on the flavour.

I have seen this also
I test different refers for this
CPC vs organic search traffic
It seems to take a week or so for a new one to reach its earning potential
