OpenX / Adsense difference in recorded impressions

Hi :)

I use OpenX to deliver my banners including (and predominantly at the moment) Adsense.

My OpenX impression count for Adsense varies with the impressions that Adsense itself provides. The variation is quite extreme.

Without specifics and for reference my impressions are > 100K/day.

I compared this month to date, and the impressions Adsense list only amount to 42% (on average) of the OpenX recorded impressions.

When I go back to January 09 The average is 68%.

Anyone have any idea of what could account for this difference?

OpenX (php adserving s/w) has quite widespread use so I don't think it's a bug.

The link you provided makes interesting reading, but none of the reasons would account for such a gap in stats.

How do you know? Do you work for them?

Besides, Google has "quite widespread use" for sure (certainly more than this "OpenX") and yet they have frequently major bugs in ad serving and stats reporting.

Widespread use (which I doubt "OpenX" has) does not prevent bugs and, curiously enough, does not cause bugs to be fixed in a timely manner.

I use the same set up and have seen the same discrepancy for years. Looked into it a while back and found it's not exactly uncommon. Never did figure out the exact reason though.
