I would like to do this randomly, just to monitor, but also maybe upon certain user actions (or inactions) to see if the ads had any effect.
Thoughts, help, experience?
but i guess what i'm looking for is what YOU did see or are seeing on my site. So, i'm looking for a snapshot at a particular time and for a particular user (sometimes, that user would be me or the system that instigated the request).
1. I don't know that such a thing is available.
2. Even if it were, it would likely be of little value to a publisher

AdSense used to display the destination URL in the status bar on Internet Explorer, but they stopped doing that in 2007, so I don't think there's a way to know anymore.
The odd thing is that the info is accessible through the browser without going to the site. Just right-click the link in the ad and choose "Copy Shortcut," then paste the text into Notepad. Look at the end of the text and you'll find "&adurl=" followed by the destination URL. I'm not sure why you can get the info by right-clicking but not with Javascript.
