"pong" in the Adsense frame?

Keep seeing it on some pages.

On some pages where I have Adsense blocks, I see the word "pong" instead of ads.

Does anyone know what's that about?

If they don't have the ads to serve, it should go to the alternative url. But why simply display that one word and nothing else?

Looks like some sort of debugging process that happening on live sites.

Maybe atari is going to make a comeback and they are running an ad campaign before they launch to gather momentum.

IOW: are you sure it's not an ad ?

Yes, I'm sure it's not an ad.

But I'll check, maybe it's something with my setup. If no one has seen it, then it must be me.

Sounds like testing alright! could it be a response to the browser sending a "Ping"? :)
