Google ad serving

None of my pages seem to be loading which contain Google ads for the past few hours. Is this the case for others? Also CTR and eCPM are at a nadir (continuing the downward trend so often discussed recently).

I am also having problems logging into any Google site or using the search (check from multiple computers and from other contacts). No problem going to other sites.

Update (one page did load), but others still are only partially loading or are taking a very long time.

Yup, blogger won't load and ads are taking a very long time to load here in the US Northeast, anyway.

I just swapped all my GG ads out for another advertiser - pages would not load.

Try placing your adsense code in a <div> and set the height and width using css. Then the page can get on with loading without having to wait to find out how big the ads are.

For me the ads don't seem slower than normal today, but they are normally appear after the rest of the page has been displayed. Maybe a problem with a certain datacentre.

This is a little unrelated to Adsense but is anyone seeing today that when you try to search for something on Google it is taking a long time for sites to come up?

Here in the western US, I am seeing my adsense page take forever to load (several minutes when it usually loads in a few seconds), I cannot get my gmail to load at all, even after a long wait, and even the google home page, simple as it is, loads very slowly. A variety of other sites I visit seem to be loading normally.

Interesting, on east coast google search and ads load slow. Might be something else going on than GG.

google in general (search, reader, apps, gmail, etc.) is down for many, many people, and this affects any sites using adsense as the ads can't connect and be generated

At about 6:30 am Pacific this morning, I could not get any page results from Google News at all, it lasted about twenty minutes.

Ad serving in Los Angeles, CA, has appeared normal all morning and continues to be normal.

Google Gets Its Own Fail Whale

Earlier today, Google users experienced a massive fail whale. Gmail was down, search was slow, Google Reader, YouTube and image search were all sporadic. Even Google Analytics and non-Google sites with AdSense ads were reporting issues. Of course, most of the complaints could be found on Twitter. If you do a search for “Gmail down” or “Google down”, you will still find a storm of chatter.

Update!: From Google: “The issue affecting some Google services has been resolved. We’re sorry for the inconvenience, and we’ll share more details soon.” Again, thanks, but we know that already, seeing as how Gmail is back up and everything.

Vordmeister - yours is excellent advice. I set all my ads with a <div> tag with the height and width controlled by CSS. I've never had the problem with slow-loading Google ads. The only problem I have is with Google Search using IE. It doesn't work at all.

I should do that <div> trick. A long time ago I installed a Google kill switch for this kind of situation where Google ads (or the lack thereof) takes the sites down. I set one setting in one place and Google is removed from all of my sites at the same time. I've only had to use it once so far...

Always best not to rely on someone else's site to be working in order for your site to work.

The code goes something like this:

That <div> idea is one I should add as well.

Analytics code is another one that probably should get a similar treatment but since it doesn't have a dimension how can a <div> help with it?

Place it at the end of your code, it shouldn't matter
