I've been trying to view the adsense pages at google to see if I could sign up. However, every time I try and get to them, I get a 'This page could not be displayed, blah blah blah, cannot find server or DNS Error' message.
I've tried adsense.google.com, google.com/adsense/home, links in loads of articles on the web, searches on google for 'adsense' - all the same.
Now I'm assuming this isn't happening to everyone, otherwise this forum would be a lot quiter. Also, this is not a one-off, I've tried a number of times over the last week.
There are two possibilities that occur to me, as I'm based in Beijing. One is that the chinese government is blocking the adsense pages -but why would they? The other is that google is blocking chinese / asian IP's - but why would they . . .?
Any ideas?

The other thing, do you have some sort of browser settings to turn off redirects? When you type in the URL I gave, it will automatically send you to their secured page at [google.com...] Maybe the direct link will work for you.
I just clicked on the first link after a search of "Google Blocked in China"
[google.com...]
instead of:
[google.com...]
(normally [google.com...] redirects to [google.com...] but it doesn't work always)
Redirects are not turned off, they work fine with other sites.
Accessing an https url is not a problem - I use them with no problems normally.
Am already using IE6.
The 'Google Blocked in China' article is almost a year old and refers to the blocking of google's search page (although they probably blocked everything, they tend to not be too targeted) - [edit]and google's search page is now accessible, as are other parts of google, like adwords, as mentioned below. Links to cached sites don't work though [/edit]
I tried Google's Adwords site - no problems.
