clicked on an ad accidently

Hi. I am at an airport and I accidently clicked on an adsense ad on one of my pages. I immediately wrote to them about this error and to deduct the click. I have never done that before but was in an uncomfortable seat at an airport and it slipped. Do you know if this will be a problem? I have been with them from the first month without ever having an error like this!

Just kidding. I'm sure they'll be fine if you wrote them to apologize. I had an employee do the same and I wrote and they seemed nice about it. You will strike them as an honest person.

I am totally sweating about this. I think it's okay since I've been with them since day 1 and it's the first time it happened. Also, the airport is really crowded and I never use that dumb pad on it (I usually attach a mouse). I wasn't sure if there was a zero tolerance rule. It worked out okay for you diamond girl? I feel so much better!

Don't worry. Google will not close your account for one click on your own ad. They are looking for patterns. I'd drop them an email to let them know so you create documentation in your file that you are concerned and it was an error.

I just got a letter saying thank you for notifying us about the clicks and about a preview tool they have to see ads on page. I assume that means everything is okay. I think it was a form letter. It was only one click and a slip of hand. I've been with them 15 months without any other clicks. Does it sound like it's okay despite being a form letter?

Hi jilla .. I think you're still in good repute with Google. That email you received does appear to be "the form letter" .. same type they sent me when I did the same as you .. I accidently clicked an ad while using the cursor pad instead of a mouse (I'm all thumbs with those things)

I too freaked a bit .. but that was months ago and all's been well ;)

Jilla, As you were at the airport you must be using Airport Wi-Fi or something like that. So your IP must be different from the one you use to check your account. So it should not be a problem. Did you check your stats before or after clicking on your ad?

IP is just one of the several parameters that Google uses to track the publisher checking his/her account and people clicking on adsense ads. Jilla need not worry in this case because G is pretty tolerant if you inform them about your mistakes. Just a friendly advice - Never ever use the same computer that you use to check your adsense account to click on adsense advertisements even after you change the IP. 'Big G ' is watching ;)

Wow calm down. You sound like you just shot someone and is afraid to go into the slammer. It's just an ad network, after all. I accidentally clicked on my ads about 5 times just to test them out (I know, they said don't test them, but I did anyway, so sue me) when I first started, about a year ago. They're not going to come after you just for one little click, accidentally or not. And even if they did, it's not like they're going to throw you in jail. RELAX.

yeah, I've clicked on a few... but on purpose. and hey, I actually bought a few things from a couple of the ads I clicked. usually though I'm at work so they wouldn't know, anyway.

Relax about it. I clicked on my ads a few times because I didn't realize we weren't allowed. I wasn't trying to cheat I was actulaly just interested in what the ad was for (which I guess proves why adsense is effective) This was about 10 months ago and I haven't been notified about anything

Sorry but I would say you are at risk. Soft words in response or something like that from google don't matter. Before you know, you open your inbox, and there it is, a nasty email from google, convicting you to a fraudulent person, without a trial, based on proof you are not allowed to see, because that is policy...yes I am one of them..the victims.
Just would like to say, just never login your account then at your home/work. Trust me I know. You will be sorry if you don't.

See what I mean when I say G has put the fear of God into its publishers? This type of "don't anger the great God" is a prime example.

Just move on if you are banned. Fear itself is all you need to fear.
