Impressions way off

Page impressions double normal, CTR 50% of normal, earnings right where they should be...

Am I the only one experiencing this today? Did Google change the way they're counting impressions? My server logs don't show a big increase in traffic.

Same here. Impressions about double the correct counts today, but clicks look right. If you view stats by ad unit (instead of page) they appear correct, or if you view by custom channel. The reporting error seems to only impact aggregate and URL channel reports.

Same here. Page impressions are through the roof and therefore ctr reflects this (which is probably a negative stat for Google).

I thought someone had stolen my pub id. How does Google determine if someone else is using your Google ID on their site, by the way.

You're hijacking this thread, but try Adsense Setup, Allowed Sites. Use with caution since there is a big downside to certain settings.

BillyS. Apologies and thank you. I meant primarily to back your experience of double recorded page impressions, lower ctr, but same revenue, which has only increased as the day goes by even as my server logs show nothing unusual as well.

Phewwwwwwwwwwww! Thanks for posting. Glad I'm not alone. Couldn't figure out why my traffic logs were normal everything else seemed to be (including revenue) but same as that - way more impressions and less click rate...

Oh wait a minute. Could it be that they track impressions for each ad instead of just page impressions (where it would count as once if you have two ad blocks)?

My page impressions have been way down since my adsense optimization rep gave me some new sizes to use about 10 days ago. Funny, today's impressions look fine to me. The CPM is a tad low...

Just wanted to create a new thread about this....

It started March 25th 1 pm Google time.

Impressions since 1 pm until now about 2,8 times higher than expected.

But when I add together the channel report for all my domains, I have exactly the expected page impressions.

Mine are goofy today as well, but only for my main site. I'm now wondering if there's a bot or spider that's been setting off the impressions as it goes about its business.

Traffic beetween 1pm and 10:30pm is 2.82 times higher than Tuesday same time period.

Until this happened, traffic was 0,9 times the traffic from Tuesday same time period

With this caldulated
1 pm to 10:30 pm 3,14 times expected page impressions

Most pages have
2 ad blocks
2 AdLinks

a few pages one more ad block

Would be interesting to compare this with sites having only 1 or 2 ads per page.

By TOS i can put number of impressions, i think.

Same problem here, but not on all channels. I can only notice it on one site (and I happen to be running the new adcode on that one, that lets you manage things from within adsense).

Thought something was up. Money was good but the CTR was low and the page impressions high. Won't complain about the other two as long as the first figure meets approval :-)

The stats show ad block impressions instead of page impressions.

As mentioned in this discussion, I have usual
2 ad blocks
2 AdLinks per page, on some pages one ad block more in the content area.

My usual difference between

page impressions : ad block impressions is 1:3.8

My yesterday past 1 pm and my todays stats match very good with this 1:3.8

I noticed a hint of this problem before going to bed (it figures it would happen on a day when I had actually made a number of changes with my site).

I looked at my stats this morning. Impressions up by about half (although Google Analytics showed that page impressions were acutally down about 5% for the same day).

CTR was down accordingly. The money was the same as usual.

Like others here, I thought maybe someone had stolen my page code and didn't strip out the Adsense. Hesitantly I instituted the "Allowed Sites" option. After reading here that others had the same problem (the problem wasn't just my site) I reversed the "Allowed Sites" option back to my original setting (allow any site to show my adsense) for fear of problems associated with this option.

Me too,

47,147 views on Tuesday, 61,099 views on Wednesday. Revenue, exactly .05 cents less.

I have culled AdSense ads from my site in favor of other ad networks (more money), so this is interesting.

AdSense algo team seems to constantly manipulate things behind the scenes.
