Why do some sites not have "Ads by Google"?

Not referring to gooooooooooogle

I stumbled on a site today that had links that were from googlesyndication, just like my adsense links, but are bigger, there are 5 of them, they are static, and they dont say "Ads by Goooogle" (give or take a few "oo"s).

Example site ::Edited because I was told to::

How come they are so different but still are for google according to the properties?

That is standard.

You should probably remove the link though.

I have seen it a few times before, so I didn't think it was some amazing find, I just know that I do not have those options. Did they alter the adsense code or are they probably premium members? Those are the only 2 things I could think of. I was just curious as to how or why they got to do that.

Those were search results ads.

Actually,I was wondering about same thing,because I did
a lot of reading related to this presidential debate,
(mostly news sites) and their ads are showing "Ads by Google" not by Gooooooogle,so theory that Google want to distinguish between its true trademark ads and similar,but not put up by Google ads (this theory was circulating here) doesn't stand,in my opinion.
Something else is there and we can only speculate.

If I'm not mistaken, they are premiere AdSense partners, or have altered their code (as was mentioned above), which is against TOS.

This is my first post on WebmasterWorld! Finally bit the bullet and joined.

I noticed that some website modified script code

google_ad_format = "728x90_as";

to

google_ad_format = "728x90_new"; (or something else, I forget)

This lets the smoking google go home.

I just visited a site that had Ads by Google on it, returned after 5 minutes and it was back to Ads by Goooooogle again. Very bizarre.

Can it be that Google is about to revert back to the old 'Ads by Google'. Let's hope so. Maybe the joke's finally over.

My site is back to "Ads by Google" also ...

It may be true! Sanity has prevailed.
