Visit my ads without infringing the "don't click your ads" rule

I don't want to use the tool google gives you to install. Instead I'd like to visit some of my ads without generating improper clicks.

Is this procedure correct in 2009?

Right click on the ad, copy the long code for url parameter, paste in new tab in explorer. Ok?

More like right click, copy, paste in notepad, select and copy the url part (after the "&adurl=" and before the "&client="), and paste in a new tab.

I just type in the url.

G should have an option under Adsense Setup where you'd list your IPs, and clicks from those IPs would be ignored.
It's stupid that a publisher cannot click an ad, even though he or she is interested on the advertised product.

Sometimes this does not work, as the url listed on the ad is not the same as the url the ad points to.
