Any AdSense code must be pasted directly into webpages without modification. AdSense participants are not allowed to alter any portion of the code or change the behavior, targeting, or delivery of ads. For instance, clicks on Google ads may not result in a new browser window being launched.
Ad manager allows you to have clicked adverts appear in a new window.
It would be better if we could do it via "adsense setup"
Referral offerings must be made without any obligation or requirement to end users. Publishers may not solicit email addresses from users in conjunction with AdSense referral units.
Now obsolete.
Up to three referral units may be displayed on a page, in addition to the ad units, search boxes, and link units specified above.

This one...
May not place misleading labels above Google ad units - for instance, ads may be labeled "Sponsored Links" but not "Favorite Sites"
IMO this one ought to have something like "No keywords allowed." at the end of the sentence. I have see sites that say "Keyword Keyword Sponsored Links" which I do not think is the right thing to do.

I can see where having the phrase "Red Widget Sponsored Links" above an AdSense unit would probably be considered "misleading" and/or drawing attention to the ads.
I've seen situations where having the words "Red Widget" above an AdSense unit seemed to help AdSense target the proper ads to the page.

I think i might have asked this but got no answer. Have you, or anyone absolutely confirmed that this works the way you think it works?
Even if using adservers (other ones), the adsense code over-rides the _blank part.
I'm still guessing this is the case with ad manager, but obviously the only way to test is to click on the ads on my page, so...err. no way.

Yes, I have confirmed that this works. Plus, if you look at an ad that has been formatted as target="_blank", there is an icon below it that is similar to the external link icon Wikipedia uses.
