Hey guys,

Many of my ads are currently located in sidebars, as expected they don't perform terribly well.

I also have a verical banner which again doesn't perform as well as I'd like, mainly the CPC, it's not currently in close proximity to text content.

Do any of you have experience with CPC changes when ads are closer or within textual content?

I can redesign the pages so that they're within the body of the text but I don't know whether it will effect the CPC or not. The CTR is already just fine.

Thanks in advance.

Placing the ad within the body text shouldn't have a direct effect on earnings per click, but it could have an indirect effect if CTR increases at the expense of conversions (which could lead to "smart pricing" discounts for advertisers).

Why not test the placement on one channel for a month or so and see what happens? Testing is safer than guesswork.

The best performing ads for me are in the content in the middle of the page. They do about 10X better in all measures than anywhere else. I don't really like it by appearnace and resisted it for a long time but it's hard to argue with a big revenue difference.

Sidebars and surrounding areas do okay on volume but not on CTR or CPC.
