Question For Those Successful With Adsense

Moonfruit Sites and Adsense

I am thinking of buying a package of DIY websites with MOONFRUIT (Site Builder) as plan to work on a number of content -rich mini niche sites.

Moonfruit allows for inclusion of Adsense ads but only in certain areas of the web page, namely the left and right hand side, very top and at the bottom. These are the only html areas of the site you see, the rest is flash-based. I cannot put ads in the main page areas and the ads will run site-wide, you cannot pick and choose which pages they go on. Moonfruit has everything I need and they are a bargain to boot.

My question : Some of you here have done well with adsense earnings. Have any of you had this success through placing skyscraper ads on the very left of the page (ie where the navigation menu would be found) and/or on the very right hand side ?

I was thinking to put ads on both of these sides and have the navigation menu at the top. Was wondering if this has worked particularly well for anyone ? I don't have many other options so was hoping for some inspiring case studies. I want to make some money with this, no point beating around the bush there. I am versed in SEO , just wondering if I could do well with these limited options of where to put ads.

First things first..
Moonfruit has everything I need...
...Except flexibility. You need to be able to put the ads where you want them, not just where some template maker says you can.

And making all ads run of site is not a good idea at all. That makes channels almost useless for tracking which pages/sections/locations are working well and which are not.

On some pages an ad on the right will work great, on others pages ads on the left work well. On still other pages leader boards work well... etc, etc.

It appears that your plan is to create an "AdSense business." Is that still a viable strategy? (My guess is that you're about five years too late, and that you're focusing on templates when you should be focusing on content and audience.) Read ronburk's post on the "flight to quality," which is the sixth post in this thread [webmasterworld.com].

Testing/customizing your ad placement can be the difference between success and failure. You really need to test more options with your ads than what it looks like you are offered.

Some of our best performing ads are those embedded within the content. Not around it.

Flash does not make your life any easier either.

I would be very concerned about getting Flash content indexed properly by G and Y. Could be a nightmare. Without ranking, no traffic.

You're versed in seo, and yet you opt for an all-flash site? Between being unable to rank well, and unable to put ads wherever you want, I'd say you might be heading for world of headaches.

moonfruit convert all the data on user sites to html , there is no problem getting indexed and plenty of people on the forum will tell you how they are ranking well , getting good traffic, etc. Getting in the SE's is not my worry .
Yes I want to build an adsense business but my sites will be content rich, not mere vehicles for adsense. I need a DIY package as am not a webmaster so cannot build my own site otherwise. I have one site I paid for and I'm not going through all that again - too much time, way to much money and no control.

I've heard of software you can use on your pc to build your own sites then publish them yourself to the web, but that means paying hosting costs. That could add up to alot per month if I want quite a few sites.Primarily I want to build sites to generate business, not earn my living off adsense but it would be nice to do both.

With moonfruit you can build unlimited websites with decent bandwidth for £120 a year all in. I can't find a better deal than that anywhere.....

Wordpress, a site building software is free, Yahoo Stores can get your store online for minimal investment. In fact, all of the major web hosting companies offer a site builder utility all for about $4.99/month including hosting.

£120 per year sounds expensive compared to free or even $4.99/month. Web hosting costs are miniscule. For the bandwidth needs of a small site you will be building, £120 is paying too much. By the time your bandwidth needs grow you can upgrade to a $9.99/month plan.

This forum is for discussing AdSense. I would suggest if you have further non-adsense questions that you start a new discussion in the appropriate category.

Best,
