We really appreciate the work you all put into building great sites. However, we feel that gift-giving is not the most appropriate gesture this year given the current global economic climate.
I know you may be disappointed, but I hope you can understand our efforts to be fiscally responsible in these times.ASA
To be fair, are you giving gifts to your clients, business partners, or employees this year?
What are your thoughts about Google canceling Christmas Gifts for Publishers?
Hah! I'm dead set odds on favourite for a "Merry Christmas" email.
Well, erm, now how can I say this, um.
You probably had your christmas email already. It came a bit early and was heavily disguised... See this thread [webmasterworld.com] for details. Maybe you wanna check your spam filter for that lost email. ;-)
Today they sent a greeting email with warm wishes for the holiday, plus a link to this holiday card:
I bet it didn't cost them very much to let their fans know that they are appreciated. ;)
Card reads:
"In recognition of your six years with Adwords, We'd like to thank you for your business. Here's to you!
Gift includes:
Cookbook:
Title: {Keyword: Delicious}
Description: Culinary impressions from the Google kitchen
Kitchen Apron:
Black with the colored Google logo.
Book:
Title: Recipes for Success:
Description: Advanced Tips from Adwords Experts
No Adsense gift since I started in 2004.
If AdWords accounts got a present while AdSense accounts didn't, then ASA's reply seems a little disingenuous.
On the contrary: In today's economic climate, it probably makes good business sense for Google to send gifts to paying customers but not to publishers who already receive money from AdSense.
Yup.. sure nuff....
I do 4 figures a month and I'd appreciate at least a card...
HOWEVER I had decided not to order from them anymore because of a pricing structure issue; they charge the same for reorders as they do for first time orders of the same products. Normally in this biz, there is a setup charge for first time orders; their regular price is about the same as everyone else's regular price plus the setup charge.
I have asked them if they'll waive the setup charge and the salesperson declined, so I started to look for another supplier for repeat orders.
I will give them a call, in fact I'll ask to speak with the owner this time, thank him for thinking of me and offering to do more business if the pricing structure of the deals can be worked out a bit better.
I wouldn't have done this if not for the gift. They were forgotten. While I won't be altering my decision unless the terms improve, it will get them a second chance at my business.

I am just thankful for my many blessings. I am still making money with AdSense, I am still able to sell online, and I have my health, my family, my pets, my friends, my home, etc. A trinket would not make or break me.
If it is more "fiscally responsible" for Google not to send out gifts, then I am glad they are being fiscally responsible. After all, if Google were to go under, it would hurt many of us publishers very badly would it not?
Merry Christmas to everyone at Google and everyone at Webmaster World!
