Adding Adsense for Search helped with targeting

Nice report for a change

On a positive note, it isn't that earnings from Adsense for Search is what I'd call an "earner" (they aren't) but rather, that the targeting of the regular Adsense Ads on pages has dramatically improved.

So much improved was targeting, that I've been able to again run Adsense on pages that I'd previously had to remove ads from because of overly-specific ads running that had nothing to do with what was offered on my sites.

Totally made up example, which I would never do, buy, or have on a site:

Say if a site features women's shoes (which I wouldn't buy online or promote, being a hard fit, and knowing how easily they can result in returns): ads running for "women's high heel showshoes" may pay very high, so those would run. Result: no clicks, everyone loses.

No more! Since adding Adsense for Search, targeting is 210% improved, and all the numbers are up.

Coincidence? Maybe so, maybe not; but it's an added convenience features for users, and not being one to look a gift-horse in the mouth or take chances, I'll stay with it.

Interesting post. I don't have adsense for search on all my pages, just a few top level sections. Basically, haven't found a nice slick way to integrate it without destroying the look and feel (a bit fussy about that).

I also suffer from some serious mis-targeting though so maybe need to look into that a bit more. Would be interested to hear if others have any experience with this?

Incidentally, does adsense for search pay much? I get the odd click here and there but nothing significant although that may change if a search box was accessible from all my pages. Thoughts?

Incidentally, does adsense for search pay much?

Its about 3% of my current monthly totals. Odd though, its been approximatly the same $$value for a long time, even though my AS for Content earnings have increased every quarter for over 5 years. Now why is that?

I appreciate Marcia's observation. It might help fight the decline in CTR that plagues several of us here.

This needs an official designation. How about CTR Rot?
