For my website I am trying to find out for which countries I should optimise my website..
The website is an international guestbook service, so very global non-targeted traffic.

For 10 countries I created a channel in Google Adsense.. And with a "ip2country" database I made sure Dutch visitors only see the NL(Dutch) Adsense channel, German the DE channel, etc.

For the last 7 days these are the results:

<snip>

I am wondering if anyone else has interesting statistics about this subject :)

Interesting to see this although I believe it's against the Google TOS to post this info.

Isn't it allowed to post a link to an image, or is it not allowed to publish adsense results?
I can't find anything about it in the Adsense TOS..

Google also doesn't allow us to report results, EXCEPT for overall monthly earnings. Anything more detailed, or any info. at all on CTR, EPC, whatever, is technically a violation of your agreement with AdSense and can get you booted.

I feel sure that we are allowed to give approximations such as "about 5%" or "used to be more than 4% but is now less than 2%".

To save me the hassle of trying to find this answer could this be confirmed by ASA?

HP, we can certainly talk in relative terms--"my CTR has doubled"--and I do, but I'm less sure about approximations. It would be good to get an official ruling on that in particular--I don't think I've ever seen one.

Ok, than in a more global descrioption.
From my experiment with 500.000 pageviews it seems that the pageviews are most worth in the UK, very good in the US/DE, quite good in the Netherlands, less good in Sweden Canada and Belgium, and very poor in Italy, Hungary and Turkey.
Do you guys see the same trend?

From personal experience, the eCPM in the UK is greater than the US.

The only other market I have experience of is Russia / Ukraine. In those countries the eCPM is very low. Just not enough advertisers to get targetted ads. But lots of page views.

Question?

How can anyone possibly determine AdSense income via country?

Now I might be dumb, but to me this is all voodoo!

[added]

Don't tell me you have a USA and a UK site so you can compare. Thats comparing Apples with Tomatoes!

I'm glad you said that since I've been wondering the same!

I'm guessing that my best EPCs come from UK/European visitors purely by the time of day however one specific section of my directory site gets some good EPCs I am guessing from the USA.

Perhaps this is something we should be asking for in that other thread...please let us know from which countries our clicks are emanating.

I don't bother with this kind of thing, but if I did I might try using geo targeting, show one channel to Europe and another to the US, etc.

Would that work?

Generally, the larger the ad inventory, the fiercer the bidding war, the higher the CPC. As for CTR, I guess that depends on how tech-savvy a population really is.

All in all, I would still bet on the US giving you highest eCPM, with first-tier developed european countries (Germany, UK, France) following shortly.
