In the event of grotesque declining revenues from $XX to < $X I've been trying to take measures to salvage the losses. Please note that my traffic to the site has recently increased, my clicks have remained almost the same, the advertisers are more or less the same ! But somehow the value per click has gone to abysmal levels.

One fine day I
- Emptied my filter list and kept only 2-3 entries
- Moved my news blog from mydomain.com/news to news.mydomain.com
- Kept only one ad on my news site

The next day I saw my earning jump to $XX again and the same clicks, traffic and ads were somehow now giving a higher CPC.

On that day I modified my htaccess so that all posts at mydomain.com/news/ would lead to news.mydomain.com. And ALAS earning have gone back to very low CPC .. $.01 per 2 clicks even!

I wonder if my news site that contains news from reputed sources i.e. not original content - effects my earnings some way. Coz when I moved my news site - the pages would be broken on Google search engine & thus increase in earnings? But then again - can this effect be reflected so quickly? What did I do that made the earnings go back to normal and then back to horror?

not original content

Yes, it will affect your earnings as it is not profitable to advertisers. Most users here will put your site into MFA category. So write good original content and you can earn $x,#*$! per month.

Also, you are risking your adsense account - it is possible that other news source may submit DMCA notice to Google and you will kiss a goodbuy to your account.

I forgot to mention that news sources form only 20% of my site & are only in form of excerpts. The rest of the site is original content.

Remove the ads from the news section and see how it goes.
