Payments in sterling?

Hi guys, just signed up for an adsense account, under the impression I'd get paid in £s, but having activated my account, I see that payments are all in dollars. Is there a way to get paid in sterling or are we at the mercy of the exchange rate?
If we are only paid in dollars, does google convert to pounds first, or is this left up to the bank to convert? (with their additional charges)?

Log in to Adsense and go to "My Account". You can set up payments to be in £s and you can also opt to have it paid directly into your bank account.

Thanks! I hoped that would be the case - couldn't check though as google won't let me change payment options until account reaches $10. Hope that won't be too long..........

You accumulate your income in USD, it is only converted at the time of payment.
